Wal-Mart Zoning Plan in Deltona, Fla., Sidesteps Critics.

Jun. 18--DELTONA, Fla. -- Critics of a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter in Deltona were conspicuously absent as officials moved forward with plans to put the 200,000-square-foot store on the city's eastern edge.
The project, roughly 6 months old and its end still several months away, met opposition early from preservationists who were concerned about its potential effects on the environment and the area's rural charm. Still, commissioners unanimously voted to annex the final parcel of the proposed site in April.
