Simon Group Buys Chelsea Outlet Mall Chain for $3.5 Billion.

Jun. 22--CLINTON, N.H. -- The nation's largest mall owner has agreed to buy the company that operates Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets in a deal worth about $3.5 billion.

No changes are expected at the 70-store Clinton outlet facility.

Simon Property Group, the Indianapolis company that owns the Crystal Mall in Stamford, is buying Chelsea Property Group, which owns Clinton Crossing.

If shareholders approve the deal, New Jersey-based Chelsea will become a subsidiary of Simon.
