Charleston, W.Va., airport considers new parking garage.

Jun. 25--Increased air traffic and the addition of Independence Air next month have led Yeager Airport Director Rick Atkinson to consider building a new parking garage.

The new garage would be built next to the current one and add about 440 spaces to the airport's existing 823. Atkinson estimates the garage's construction could begin this winter and open in the spring of 2006.

"Even without Independence, our parking is running very full right now," he said.

The garage is at about 80 percent capacity, and the top floor has been open since the beginning of June. The top level is typically closed and only open during busy travel periods like...
