Florida's U.S. Senate candidates jockey for position, campaign funds.

Jul. 1--TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Republican Mel Martinez broke his own fund-raising record Wednesday in Florida's U.S. Senate race and appears poised to launch a television advertising blitz that he hopes will vault him to victory in the August primary.
Martinez has raised $1.75 million since April, topping the $1.72 million he collected in the first three months of the year. That opening total was the most raised in a quarter by any Senate candidate in Florida history.
"If we stay at the same pace, we'll be in good shape," said Kirk Fordham, finance director for Martinez, a former Orange County chairman and federal housing secretary.
