Deal could mean big raises for Southwest Airlines' flight attendants.

Jul. 2--Southwest Airlines Co.'s 7,400 flight attendants will have the chance to vote for raises of up to 129 percent over the life of their tentative six-year agreement with the carrier.

Details of the long-awaited agreement, announced June 25, were revealed Thursday.

The deal would immediately increase flight attendant pay between 13 percent and 23 percent.

Those raises would be retroactive to June 2002, when the existing contract became amendable under federal law.

"We really have some big improvements here," said Thom McDaniel, president of Transport Workers Union Local 556. "We think the agreement accomplishes what we set out to do."...
