Jul. 11--TEN PERCENT OFF NEVER GETS OLD: There are two ways to approach a birthday: Moan about getting older or look at the benefits that extra year will bring.
I prefer the latter as I approach a milestone birthday on Tuesday. Much as I welcomed birthday No. 17 (driver's license) and No. 18 (legal drinking age in New York at that time), I look forward to No. 62 because it affords me a slew of new discounts and savings.
I could even retire and start collecting Social Security, although doing so would result in a 25 percent cut in monthly payments.
