J.P. Morgan Chase wants charter to reside in Columbus, Ohio.

Jul. 13--The corporate headquarters will be in New York and the retail bank will be based in Chicago, but J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.'s bank charter will reside in Columbus.
The financial-services company, which acquired Bank One on July 1, has asked federal regulators for permission to merge its New York-based Chase charter and Bank One's national charters in Ohio and Illinois into one national charter based in Columbus.
The move is largely symbolic -- it won't result in jobs gains for central Ohio or any changes that consumers would notice.
