Pennsylvania utility commission to decide Verizon billing dispute.

Jul. 14--The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission reversed an administrative law judge's decision and assumed control of a $7.8 million billing dispute between Verizon and a subsidiary of Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises Inc.

The commission gave no timetable in its July 8 order as to when it will decide the case between Verizon Pennsylvania Inc. and CTSI LLC.

In a 5-0 vote, the commission granted the exceptions Verizon filed to the April 28 decision by Administrative Law Judge Wayne Weismandel, who said the Court of Common Pleas, rather than the PUC, should decide the "garden-variety" billing dispute.
