Wisconsin Public Service to buy 70 megawatts of wind power.

Jul. 21--Wisconsin Public Service Corp. said Tuesday it will buy 70 megawatts of wind power from the proposed Forward Energy wind project in Brownsville, near Waupun.

The announcement by the Green Bay-based utility boosts to 130 megawatts the amount of power already contracted for the wind farm that would be developed by Invenergy Wind of Chicago. That's enough power to serve about 45,500 homes.

Madison Gas & Electric plans to buy 40 megawatts from the project, while Wisconsin Public Power Inc. of Sun Prairie plans to buy 20 megawatts.
