Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel seeks buyer for coke from Follansbee, W.Va., plant.

Jul. 21--Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel is looking for ways to capitalize on what's become the industry's version of black gold: coke.
The West Virginia steelmaker said once it fires up electric steelmaking furnaces at its Mingo Junction, Ohio, plant, its coke plant across the Ohio River in Follansbee, W.Va., will produce more of the baked coal than the company needs.
Spokesman Jim Kosowski declined to disclose potential buyers for the raw material, but sources familiar with the talks said discussions had been held with International Steel Group and Rouge Steel.
Officials from ISG and Rouge could not be reached for comment.
