Wireless phones keep RadioShack buzzing.

Jul. 21--Shares of Fort Worth-based RadioShack Corp. jumped more than 7 percent Tuesday after the company released higher-than-expected quarterly earnings and upgraded its third-quarter and full-year earnings projections.

The electronics retailer, crediting strong sales of wireless phones and accessories, said net income hit $68.3 million, or 42 cents per share, compared with $57.5 million, or 34 cents, a year ago. Analysts were expecting RadioShack to earn 39 cents a share, in line with the company's guidance of 38 cents to 40 cents per share.

Total sales were $1.05 billion, up almost 3 percent from $1.03 billion in the same period last year.
