Jul. 19--TechStar, a Milwaukee agency that helps young technology companies get started, has landed $1.2 million in new funding to remain open at least through 2006 and plans to raise money for a new venture capital fund.

The new funding -- $600,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and $600,000 from the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. -- provides stability for an agency that has helped launch 11 new companies that employ more than 60 people in southeastern Wisconsin.
