Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. installs meters with transmitters for drive-by reads.

Jul. 22--A high-tech upgrade could make life easier for Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. meter readers and the homeowners whose property the readers regularly enter.

"Having to get a physical reading on each meter, we have to deal with obstacles like dogs and locked gates on a daily basis," said Steve Dudley, an ONG meter reading supervisor. "But with these upgrades, we use a drive-by with a laptop computer. That saves our readers physically, and it makes them much faster."
