University of Oregon nears deal with bakery for new basketball arena site.

Jul. 23--Construction of a new University of Oregon basketball arena on the site of the current Williams' Bakery has moved tantalizingly closer, with bakery officials shopping for a new home and the company's executive saying he believes the UO will end up buying the current one.
"Unless something catastrophic happens, I would think it's going to go forward," bakery Chief Executive Officer Bob Albers said. "I think we're in the 70 percent range."
Dan Williams, the UO's vice president for administration, was more cautious but agreed that so far nothing has arisen that would block a plan to replace aging McArthur Court with a new arena on the bakery site...
