Aug. 3--INVESTMENT FIRM PARTNER PUMPED ABOUT OIL SECTOR: After 10 years in the energy investment business, including the last seven of them at Houston's Simmons & Company International, Dan Pickering felt his entrepreneurial urge kick in.
He and two others formed Pickering Energy Partners, where he's president. The nine-person firm provides energy research to institutional investors, such as mutual and hedge funds. Its offerings include observations on oil and gas prices and stock recommendations on energy-service companies.
