Financial chief at hospitals operator Tenet Healthcare Corp. to step down.

Aug. 4--Tenet Healthcare Corp. said Tuesday that its chief financial officer will step down as the company reported a wider quarterly loss.

The California hospital operator, which is moving its headquarters to Dallas early next year, said Stephen Farber wants to pursue other opportunities but will stay on while the company looks for a successor.

"As this company continues to stabilize, the CFO's focus at Tenet will be more on day-to-day operations and less on transactions and restructuring, on which I thrive," said Mr. Farber, who was promoted to CFO in November 2002.
