Engine maker Briggs & Stratton reports rise in quarterly net income.

Aug. 6--Briggs & Stratton Corp. said Thursday that fiscal fourth-quarter rose on improved performance in the company's engine division and increased sales of higher-priced products.
In a conference call with analysts, officials of the Wauwatosa small-engine maker also said they expect to capture more cost savings from its acquisition of Simplicity Manufacturing Inc. in Port Washington, perhaps by purchasing parts and components from Asia.
"We have a program going where we are trying to lower our worldwide costs by actively looking at Taiwanese and Chinese suppliers of certain components," Briggs Chief Financial Officer James Brenn said. "Simplicity has done...
