Japan Airlines to begin card-based ticketless service.

Aug. 5--TOKYO -- Japan Airlines Corp. said Thursday it will introduce next year an integrated circuit card-based service that eliminates the use of air tickets and boarding passes for domestic flights.
The new service will enable passengers to complete reservations, payments and check-in procedures through personal computers or NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s "i-mode" mobile phones equipped with Sony Corp.'s FeliCa contactless IC card technology.
At the airport, the passengers will be able to go through security and boarding gates by merely placing the IC cards or the mobile phones over data-reading machines.
