Despite bankruptcy filing, Trump confident in his Atlantic City casinos.

Aug. 11--With his casinos weighed down by $1.8 billion in debt and outglitzed by competitors such as the year-old Borgata, Donald Trump -- always the salesman -- insists that the future of his Atlantic City empire is bright as ever.

Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts said Monday it would file for bankruptcy protection, the second time Trump has had to turn to the bankruptcy courts for help in the 20 years since he built his first Atlantic City casino.

His downfall, in 1991 and now: the staggering debt that followed construction of the billion-dollar Trump Taj Mahal.
