Airport business takes off in Wilmington, N.C.

Aug. 11--Passengers wanting to fly out of Wilmington might not want to wait until the last minute to get their tickets. Business is sizzling at the local airport.
July was a record month for the airport, with more than 59,000 passengers passing through the New Hanover County facility. The number represents a 34 percent increase over July 2003 and is the third consecutive month of 30 percent or greater passenger growth over a year earlier.
While almost all airports are seeing an uptick in business this summer, Wilmington's growth is particularly strong. By comparison, passenger numbers for Raleigh-Durham International Airport in June -- the latest...
