Oklahoma City cell phone company Dobson Communications sees stock tumble.

Aug. 11--Investors battered the stock of Dobson Communications Corp. on Tuesday after the Oklahoma City cell phone company lowered its expected 2004 earnings and revealed that it wasn't attracting new customers as quickly as it had predicted.

Dobson was the biggest loser on any major American stock exchange Tuesday. Its shares plummeted 54 percent in frenzied trading on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. That sent the stock diving to $1.10 -- less than half of its previous 52-week low.

"The marketplace will tell you what's going on, and it don't look good today," said Bob Rader, vice president of Capital West Securities in Oklahoma City.
