Ratchaburi Electricity to raise output by 1,400 megawatts.

Aug. 12--Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc will boost its generating capacity by 1,400 additional megawatts this year in support of the National Power Development Plan, said managing director Boonchu Direkstaporn.

Ratchaburi's new project proposals to be submitted under the plan aimed at increasing national electricity production after 2011 include two new gas-fired power plants, each with a capacity of 700 MW and expected to cost about US $700 million each.

The nation's electricity production is to be raised by 47,332 MW between 2004 and 2015.

But between 2004 and 2010, new electricity output will come from existing independent power...
