Aug. 18--Uncle Sam helped Servotronics record strong increases in sales and profits in its second quarter.

The Elma-based manufacturer, whose products range from components for aircraft to bayonets for the Marines, reported a 43 percent increase in sales for the three-month period ending June 30, to $5.6 million. It recorded profits of $215,000, compared with a $22,000 loss last year.

Servotronics' diluted net income per share was 10 cents, compared with a 1 cent loss a year ago.
