Online travel agent ebookers' picture brightens after profits shock.

Aug. 16--Online travel agent ebookers today moved to reassure investors that current trading was "encouraging" after its shock profit warning last month.

The group's shares crashed more than a third at the end of July after new finance director Michael Healy carried out a review that dramatically cut the company's growth expectations. Analysts slashed profit forecasts for the year by more than 80 percent.

Today, reporting a narrowing of losses for the quiet second quarter ending 30 June, chief executive and founder Dinesh Dhamija said: "Quarter three trading from 1 July to date has been encouraging and in line with our expectations."
