Connecticut Transportation board to discuss passenger rail line upgrade.

Aug. 24--NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The state Transportation Strategy Board will meet today to discuss a $250 million plan to upgrade the passenger rail line connecting New Haven, Hartford and Springfield, Mass.

The TSB, a 15-member panel appointed by legislators and the governor, will meet at 8 a.m. at Gateway Community College Room 160, 60 Sargent Drive, New Haven, to review the latest version of the New Haven Hartford Springfield Commuter Rail Implementation Study.

The line, which runs parallel to Interstate 91, has been under study since 2002 and a preliminary draft proposed two options offering upgrades -- an $87 million option and a $557 million option --...
