IKEA store in New Haven, Conn., hires 100 more employees to keep up.

Aug. 25--The Swedish retailer IKEA is drawing so many shoppers since it opened in New Haven a month ago, it has hired another 100 workers to keep shelves stocked and customers happy.

While that is good news for the local job market, weekend visitors flocking south to the new store -- just off I-95 -- are still backing up traffic onto the highway exit ramp and beyond, causing headaches for motorists bound for other destinations.

And the next two weekends are not expected to be much different as back-to-school shopping kicks into high-gear for college students.
