Aug. 26--Citing newly released transaction logs and audio tapes, Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell's office says it can show how Enron stole energy from California in 2000 at the same time the Bonneville Power Administration was ordered to increase its electricity output to the state.
Cantwell yesterday called on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to give Northwest power customers financial relief based on the evidence.
To accommodate the U.S. Secretary of Energy's request in 2000, Bonneville drew down its reservoirs and pushed hydroelectric generators to the maximum during a time it normally would have allowed better flows for salmon,...
