Lockheed unit, Raydon Corp. delivers combat trainers built in Central Florida.

Aug. 31--A new generation of combat trainers designed and built in Central Florida to prepare soldiers for convoy duty in Iraq has been delivered to the Army under two fast-paced contracts.

Lockheed Martin's Simulation, Training & Support division in Orlando and Raydon Corp. of Daytona Beach both developed training systems to prepare Army Humvee crews for the war zone's dangerous roads.

Each company delivered eight simulators, called Virtual Combat Tactical Trainers, under contracts worth a combined $15.2 million.
