Sep. 1--MUTUAL FUND BALLOTS ARE NO LONGER SECRET WITH NEW DISCLOSURES: Is your mutual fund a lapdog of corporate management or a watchdog for shareholder rights? You can now find out.

For the first time, all funds must tell the Securities and Exchange Commission how they vote on corporate ballot issues. The first disclosures, covering the 12 months that ended June 30, were due Tuesday.

Shareholders aren't necessarily clamoring for the information. American Century Investments of Kansas City has posted its votes on the Internet since June. But Christopher Doyle, a vice president, says only about 20 people a month have viewed the information.
