Connecticut gas station owner offers discount to customers who pay cash.

Sep. 3--BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The days when gas station owners could offer one price for cash purchases and another for those made on credit are gone, but Sam Dedhia has found a way around the prohibition.

For the last month, he's been giving customers who pay cash a discount of 5 cents per gallon. The price isn't reflected on the big sign that announces his prices, but Dedhia put notices on his pumps.

Dedhia bought the Coastal gas station on the corner of State Street and Iranistan Avenue about 1 1/2 years ago. Since then, he changed the name to State Street Gas and started looking for a way around a law prohibiting surcharges on credit card purchases....
