Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. to let depositors set ATM card withdrawal limit.

Sep. 6--TOKYO -- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. said Monday it will allow depositors to set the withdrawal limit on their automated-teller machine cards in a range between 0 yen and 3 million yen, starting Oct. 6.
The first service of its kind by a major Japanese bank is in response to an increase in withdrawals with stolen ATM cards, Sumitomo Mitsui said.
Currently, the bank automatically applies a 3 million yen limit to each card.
