Bush solicits Congress for more hurricane aid.

Sep. 15--WASHINGTON -- President Bush asked Congress for an additional $3.1 billion in aid for Florida and other states ravaged by hurricanes Frances and Charley, including more than $100 million to repair damage at the Kennedy Space Center.

The House and Senate approved $2 billion last week for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which offers help to local and state governments, as well as individuals.

The latest request adds another $2 billion for FEMA but would also pay for repairs and aid through several other agencies, including $70 million for the American Red Cross, which has fed and sheltered millions affected by the two storms.
