Home construction bill survives override attempt in Missouri Senate.

Sep. 16--JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Senate failed Wednesday to override Gov. Bob Holden's veto of a bill that would have made it harder for homeowners to sue contractors for defective construction.
The Senate voted 21-11 to override, falling two votes short of the necessary two-thirds vote needed to overturn Holden's veto. No other overrides were attempted Wednesday.
Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder, a Cape Girardeau Republican, had sponsored the bill and reminded senators before the override vote that they had voted for it 29-3 when it passed the legislature.
