Sep. 17--When Tablas Creek Vineyard's wine club members receive their wine shipments this week, they may notice something different: a screw-cap closure.

Concerned about bacteria that can grow in the fissures of a cork and make wine taste like a musty basement or a wet dog, the Paso Robles winery has bottled a percentage of its 2003 Rose, 2003 Vermentino and 2002 Las Tablas Estates Glenrose Vineyard with screw-cap closures. A bottle of the rose went to each of the wine club members Wednesday, and the winery now awaits feedback.
