Sep. 17--VERNALIS LOOKING TO BUY WITH UKpound 37M CASH PILE: Biotech Vernalis is ready to hit the acquisition trail after halving its interim losses to UKpound 13.1 million and nearly quadrupling its cash pile since the end of June. Cash at 31 August was UKpound 37.2 million, with UKpound 6 million more due this month after it concluded a research deal with Novartis. Vernalis should become profitable by 2007, though this depends on US approval for its Frova treatment for migraines.
