Mount Dora, Fla., decision could put Target, Wal-Mart in battle for shoppers.

Sep. 21--MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Retail giants Target and Wal-Mart Supercenter could be battling for shoppers if city officials approve Target's annexation request for land on U.S. Highway 441.
The City Council on Oct. 5 is expected to discuss the proposed 125,735-square-foot store, which would be adjacent to Wal-Mart.
Target has been interested in opening a store in Mount Dora for a few years.
"It's a growing community with a good demographic base," Cecelia Bonifay, a lawyer for Target, said Tuesday. "Target has no qualms about being next to Wal-Mart because it offers a very different shopping experience. It's a good location in an already established...
