Verizon's traveling wireless service debuts.

Sep. 23--Verizon Wireless is rolling out a service that will eventually allow a passenger in a car to stay online with a high-speed connection while the vehicle crosses the state.

The new service, called BroadbandAccess, is more than seven times faster than the company's current wireless offering.

It will be the nation's first large-scale introduction of a wireless Internet service, frequently referred to as 3G, or third-generation.

AT&T Wireless rolled out 3G service this month in Dallas and San Diego. Sprint has plans for 3G as well.
