Cadbury Schweppes blames weather for poor soft-drink sales in Europe.

Sep. 30--Confectionery giant Cadbury Schweppes is blowing hot and cold over the weather.
It blamed this year's dismal summer for poor European sales of soft drinks. Last year it moaned that the heatwave put people off buying chocolate.
Is Cadbury trying to have it both ways? It says it is not seeking excuses, just trying to be honest about the business impact. "We have had two extreme summers," it says. "A regular summer would suit us fine."
The shares dipped 8 1/4p to 426 3/4p as it warned that 2004 profits would be "toward the lower end" of market expectations, though "within our goal ranges."
