Appeals court nixes challenge to Aetna's class-action settlement with doctors.

Sep. 30--A federal appeals court has rejected a challenge to Aetna's $170 million settlement of class action litigation with physicians.
In a decision filed Friday and made public Wednesday, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta upheld the settlement's approval by the U.S. District Court in Miami last fall.
Some doctors and the Maryland State Medical Society objected to the settlement, however, and appealed to the Eleventh Circuit. The circuit's decision says, "we can find no abuse of discretion on the part of the district court in approving the settlement."
