FTC approves Tulsa, Okla.-based Magellan's pipeline, terminals buy from Shell.

Sep. 30--The company is purchasing 2,000 miles of pipelines and terminals from Shell.

The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday approved Magellan Midstream Partners LP's $492.4 million purchase of Royal Dutch/Shell pipeline assets.

The deal involves 2,000 miles of petroleum products pipelines and related terminals. The Shell system is linked directly to Magellan's 6,700 mile pipeline system, which supplies fuel to markets throughout the Midwest.

But the FTC is requiring Tulsa-based Magellan to sell one of its terminals in order to preserve competition in Oklahoma City.
