Sep. 29--PITTS HONORED BY FOOD GROUPS: U.S. Rep. Joe Pitts is among the members of Congress honored recently by the Food Marketing Institute and the International Foodservice Distributors Association for their commitment to free enterprise.
The two food-industry groups last week presented Pitts and the other legislators with the Thomas Jefferson Award, saying their votes on issues such as taxes, free trade and labor policy have been true to Jefferson's ideals at least 70 percent of the time.
In Pennsylvania, 12 of 19 representatives qualified for the award. Pitts is a Kennett Square Republican whose district includes most of Lancaster County.
