Expenses rise in basketball scandal investigation at University of Missouri.

Sep. 29--The past two months have been the most expensive for the University of Missouri-Columbia investigation of its men's basketball team.

Fees for attorneys pushed the inquiry's out-of-pocket expenses to $79,278.50 by last week, according to a report by the university. But that doesn't count the personnel time spent on what's been described as a joint university-NCAA investigation.

"I guess I could say I wouldn't be surprised if it reached into a thousand" man-hours, said MU Associate Athletic Director Sarah Reesman, "but I couldn't say that with any certainty at all."
