British telecom Thus reports lower earnings; vulnerable to takeover.

Sep. 25--Telecoms carrier Thus is vulnerable to predators after dialling up yet more wrong numbers.

It warned that gross first-half earnings would be less than last year's UKpound 20.6 million because margins were being squeezed by ferocious competition.

Thus was spun out from ScottishPower five years ago, but analysts warned that its days as an independent operator look numbered.

It held on-off merger talks with Kingston Communications last year but failed to agree terms.
