Sep. 30--POWER TO THE PEOPLE: Mary Hight, 61, works as a team assembler at Rantec Power Systems in Los Osos.
Rantec manufactures power conversion equipment such as voltage converters for large military and aerospace customers including Honeywell. The local firm employs about 100 people.
She works on a 10-person team that is responsible for putting together a variety of products, including parts for commercial airlines. While one team of five people preps the parts, the other five people assemble them.
Hight, who has been with the company for almost five years, enjoys the job and the benefits that come with it.
