Oct. 1--TOKYO -- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. may accept some 30 workers from Daiwa Securities Group Inc. as banks will be allowed to act as sales agents for brokerages from December, sources at the bank said Friday.

With the new workers, SMBC plans to set up a section within its investment banking division in December to sell foreign-currency bonds and other financial products developed by Daiwa Securities, they said, adding the move will help SMBC improve its asset management services for corporate clients.
