North Carolina appeals court reinstates Alltel award to cell phone service.

Oct. 6--The N.C. Court of Appeals on Tuesday reinstated a $3.2 million award by Alltel to Cellular Plus of North Carolina.

The decision stems from a lawsuit filed in Wake County Superior Court in 2000 by the owner of Cellular Plus, David Kilpatrick.

In 1988, Kilpatrick became one of the first in the area to operate a cell phone service business, Cellular Plus.

Over time, Burlington-based Cellular Plus became Alltel's largest independent dealership in the country, said Kilpatrick's attorney, Mark Anderson Finkelstein, of the Raleigh law firm Herring McBennett Mills & Finkelstein.
