Dallas-based Vought Aircraft Industries, union resume talks on contract.

Oct. 6--Vought Aircraft Industries Inc. and its union members began talks again on Tuesday, more than a week after workers voted to strike at the aircraft parts manufacturer.

The four-year contract for Local 848 of the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America expired Sept. 26. Members of the union OK'd a strike but didn't set a date to walk off the job.

Benefits, specifically health care and retirement, were a concern for workers under the company's first offer.
