Northern Indiana Public Service may buck national trend on rising energy prices.

Oct. 7--MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- Northern Indiana Public Service Co. customers may be spared the shock-and-awe effect of soaring world energy prices this winter.

Indiana's largest utility company is predicting heating bills this winter will be about the same as they were in the winter of 2003-04.

"This year, it appears the cost of natural gas will be in the same neighborhood as it has been the past year or two years," said NIPSCO President Mark Maassel.
