Energy agency says people should expect higher prices for home-heating fuels.

Oct. 7--Just as chilly fingers are reaching for the thermostat, the federal government said yesterday that people should be prepared again for home-heating sticker shock.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration said yesterday that prices for home-heating fuels -- oil, natural gas and propane -- will increase substantially this winter. Consumers hurt the most will be those who use oil, with prices expected to rise 29 percent.

But calling the heating contractor this fall to install a gas furnace won't help much: prices for propane and natural gas are projected to rise 17 percent and 11 percent, respectively.
