Oct. 7--As a public relations specialist, Mary Verdin works with companies that understand the value of supporting the community.
Verdin, 40, owns Verdin Marketing Ink, a public relations firm in San Luis Obispo. She's owned the company since last December, when she left Barnett Cox & Associates after 13 years.
Her tasks include creating public awareness for the companies she represents, maintaining relationships with the media, writing press releases, developing marketing strategies and working on advertising campaigns.
